Family Valentine Ideas
Valentine's Day comes at the perfect time...right when we are all ready for warm weather. Changing the weather might be hard, but we can warm the hearts of our families with some of these ideas.
Six years ago I decided to do a week of Valentine's for my little loves. It is a similar idea to the Elf on a Shelf, except they wake up to little gifts for them. It was so fun, and I thought you might enjoy it too! Each morning you have a little gift with a note that goes with it for each of your kids (or maybe your husband). I LOVE to watch them light up with excitement when they find that day's Valentine! Here are some of the ones we've done. These pictures are from that first Valentine, 6 years ago, when we were in Ukraine. (You will probably notice some of the packages are not in English.)
1. YOU ARE THE COLOR IN OUR LIFE
Have a box of crayons, paints, color pencils/pens waiting for them with this note. Or maybe even a coloring book.
2. IT'S FUN RAISIN YOU!
Raisins! Each one received a little bag of raisins with this note. Of course, here in the States, you could always buy those mini boxes. ;)
3. DONUT YOU KNOW WE LOVE YOU?
Donuts were not available to us, but they did not notice the difference...since they hadn't tried real donuts. hehe They were very excited to wake up and have these for breakfast!
4. YOU ARE SO SWEET!
We used chocolate, but any kind of candy would work, or sweethearts. My 4th child was only about 2 at the time and managed to eat 2 or 3 before the others woke up. Thankfully I had extras!
5. YOU LIGHT UP OUR LIFE
Flashlights...Eric found these cute, little animal flashlights. The kids were super excited about these and even slept with them that night.
6. WE LOVE YOUR SMILE! (You make us smile.)
Toothbrushes...older kids may not be as excited about this. But my little ones sure were!
7. WE'RE NUTS ABOUT U!
Nuts...I filled little cups with nuts, but mini bags would work - as long as they don't have allergies. (Our kids called us Papa and Mama, like all the Ukrainian children called their parents.)
Other ideas I've done...
*Loopy (crazy) straws ~ "WE'RE LOOPY FOR YOU" (You could say crazy about you.)
*Stickers ~ WE'RE STUCK ON YOU
*Gobstoppers ~ OUR LOVE FOR YOU NEVER ENDS
Comment and share your ideas with us! Would love to hear! Hope you enjoy doing this with your precious family!
